The Emerging Scientist Award is awarded by the German Society for Microcirculation and Vascular Biology (GfMVB) and generously sponsored by ibidi for excellent contributions to the field of experimental and clinical research in microcirculation and vascular biology. The typical applicant for the award is a postdoc researcher on her/his/ their way to scientific independence. The top-three applicants will be invited to give a presentation. At the meeting, an expert jury-panel will select the winner based on the quality of the presentation. Besides eternal fame, the prize money is 2.000 € for the winner, and 500 € for the runner up.
How to apply and requirements: Applications are selected which encompass the aims of our society.
1. You have to be a member of the German Society for Microcirculation and Vascular Biology (GfMVB) at the time of submitting your application for the Emerging Scientist Award. Please provide proof of membership in your application file.
2. You published an outstanding original research paper in the field of microcirculation – vascular biology, as single or first author, in 2024 or 2025. In case of equal contribution of 2 (or more) scientists, a joint application is possible. In all cases please make sure you have a written consent of the (shared) co-author(s) – lead author(s) for your application.
3. You are dedicated to pursue a career in science and become an independent PI – please express your motivation in an accompanying letter.
4. You are registering and attending the conference.

1. a copy of your outstanding paper
2. a motivation letter from the applicant ( max 1 page)
3. short CV of the applicant ( max 1 page)
4. proof of registration at GfMVB
5. a letter of consent from the co-author(s) / lead author(s)

Applications will be reviewed by the board of the GfMVB and the local organisers; finalists will be notified 26.03.2025, and expected to attend the meeting.
